How do I oil a storm door latch?

It doesn't automatically latch when the door closes. Maybe there is a spring in it, that is not overcoming the friction. It's a typical storm door latch, push-button on the outside and a small horizontal handle on the inside.How do I oil a storm door latch?

Put it on the movable parts.
if external use heavy oil.


If internal use light oil or penetrating spray 1st to ungum it then a light oil.
Replace it, the spring is sprung.
