I have to mix it and leave it in a warm place for 2 days, is what I read. What constitutes a warm place? Also, what section can peppermint oi be found in - spices or baking? I need both oils, but can't remember seeing them anywhere in the grocery. Is it true I can make rosemary oil from olive oil and ground rosemary?
You will have rosemary flavored olive oil, not rosemary oil. Rosemary oil is what is called an Essential Oil.
Do not look for them in the grocery.
If you are cooking, rosemary in the olive oil is what you want to do. Rosemary essential oil can be toxic. If you are wanting it for aromatic purposes look where they have potpourri stuff.
Look for peppermint extract where you get vanilla extract. Peppermint oil same place as above. Is it true I can make rosemary oil from olive oil and ground rosemary?
After mixing, put it in a window sill. That will give it direct light contact and begin the natural process of breaking down the rosemary into your oil.
I would check a few different spots at your grocery. 1st look in the section that has the olive oil. If not there, check the ethnic aisle (the one with the soy sauce). Then go for the spice/baking aisle. If all that fails, check with the manager.
You don't need to grind the rosemary. Just add it to the bottle or container. Let sit for a few days. The flavor/scent of the rosemary will infuse with the olive oil. Works best in a warm place, but I wouldn't sit it in direct sunlight. The olive oil will go rancid pretty quickly.
