How to remove oil spots from a top that has been through the dryer?

I got an oil spot on a cotton top from food, I washed it and put it through the dryer and the spot is still there. I have read that you can't get it out once it has been in the dryer - help it's my favourite!!!How to remove oil spots from a top that has been through the dryer?
You could try using dawn dishwashing detergent on it -- just use a little and work it through the stain and then rewash the shirt normally. How to remove oil spots from a top that has been through the dryer?
The heat of the dryer does set many stains, but not grease on cotton. As mentioned previously, using Dawn or some other grease release product as a pre-treatment and rewashing should work just fine.
In the laundry isle of most grocery stores they sell special cleaners. There is usually a rack of small bottles (I think they were all yellow) that each have a specific purpose. I cannot remember the exact name but they have them for things like blood, milk, grass, and oil. I also had an oil spot and this is the only thing that got it out. You can also try a dish liquid that cuts grease like Dawn.

When do you start feeling the full effects of fish oil for depression?

I've been taking fish oil for 3 days now and really haven't felt much different. I noticed when I took 2 fish oil soft gels close to each other that i started to feel really drowsy and had a stomach ache. I take 3 or 4 fish oil softgels a day. How long does it take for the full effects to kick in to see if it actually works well? When do you start feeling the full effects of fish oil for depression?
I have never heard of fish oil being used for depression. I take it for heart and joint health. You should probably talk to a DR before using it for depression. When do you start feeling the full effects of fish oil for depression?

How long time can one drive with engine with leaking oil and leaking head gasket?

Maybe it's possible to continue using the car, just not reving too much and adding oil if it goes down? How long time can one drive with engine with leaking oil and leaking head gasket?
You can drive it forever! Nobody has ever had any problem because of that! They all just lie! As long as you have petrol in your car, it will be running, matey! How long time can one drive with engine with leaking oil and leaking head gasket?
You shouldnt drive at all because water doesnt lubricate the metal engine,if the head gasket is gone..is your oil milky colored if so...dont drive it.In a 100 miles it'll be blown
depend on how far you dont have toget it fixed right away you can always us esomethign like block seal if its just leakin but if its blown then you shouldnt drive it i have been driving my lincoln with a leaking head gasket for about 6months it leaks oil too i have been a mechanic for 16 years and will continue to drive it that way until it stops running then fix it most of the people answering question couldnt even begin to understand how a car works so if you continue to put oil in and water and if the leak isnt too bad you can drive it that way for a long time with out gettin it repaired
depends...you doing a ';slick 50'; commercial?
Somewhere between 5 feet and the middle of next week as a guess. It may be reparable now, but if a bearing seizes and puts a rod through the block, it won't be.
You will have to have the engine repaired!

  • How to remove oil stains from my driveway?

The stain is only a couple days old and fairly moderate sized, maybe the size of a small towel. How to remove oil stains from my driveway?
Everyone has their own solutions that they swear by and most of them work.

Personally, I just pour some kitty litter on it (cheap stuff will down), grind it in, leave it overnight. I then sweep it up. On fresh stains, that should get a good portion of the stain.

After that, go to the hardware store and find a cleaner designed for getting oil stains out. There are a bunch of them and they all work fairly well.

If you want to use household items, dish or laundry soup work also, but won't have the same results as a dedicated cleaner. Simple Green also works great if you have it.

Some people recommend coke, I've used it and it works to a degree, but almost everything else is better. How to remove oil stains from my driveway?
    here is what I found:

    Step1

Pour cola on the oily or dry stained areas, and leave the cola on overnight. Squirt a generous amount of dishwashing liquid into a bucket until you have a good lather. Rinse with the soapy water, then with a garden hose.

    Step2

Sprinkle baking soda or an absorbent powder such as cornmeal or sawdust on the oily spots. If the stain is dry, wet it first to make a scouring paste. Scrub with a stiff brush or push broom.

    Step3

Sprinkle automatic dishwasher detergent on the oily concrete. Leave it for several minutes, then pour boiling water on the stained area. Scrub with a stiff brush or push broom, then rinse.

    Step4

Try a commercial concrete cleaner such as Garage and Driveway Cleaner by Red Devil Co. or a grease solvent such as Benzine. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.

    Step5

Sprinkle trisodium phosphate (TSP) on the oily concrete. If the stain is dry, wet it first. Let it stand for 30 minutes. Scrub using a stiff broom. TSP is a dangerous product; if you must use it, wear rubber or latex gloves, safety goggles and protective clothing. Also, never wash a TSP product down storm drains.

    Step6

As a last resort, combat tough spills with muriatic acid and a pressure washer. Apply the acid following the manufacturer's directions, and let it soak for several seconds. Follow with a pressure washer set at 2,500 to 3,000 lbs. per square inch (psi), or 176 to 211 kg per square cm. Like TSP, muriatic acid is a dangerous product; likewise, if you must use it, wear rubber or latex gloves, safety goggles and protective clothing, and never wash such a product down storm drains.

    Step7

After trying any of the strategies above, sprinkle baking soda over the cleaned area to neutralize the solution you've used.

Here an old trick, and I do mean old,we use to use when my dad owned a service station.Pour some kerosene on the spot then take a soap powder, like Tide and sprinkle it on the spot.Scrub and let sit for 10 or 15 minutes. Then wash off with pressure hose or just home water pressure if you don't own high pressure unit. That should do it.It worked wonders in our grease rack.
kitty litter to get up the majority of oil. the stain that is left will come up with a pressure washer and degrease type soap
    degreaser and pressure washer
kitty litter first and then pressure wash the spot. good luck.

Do companies use oil base paint, or water base paint to make furniture?

My dining room table is scuffed up, and we want to repaint it. Should we use oil or water base paint? The company is now closed so we cant call to ask them.Do companies use oil base paint, or water base paint to make furniture?
Apply 4 coats of exterior grade oil-bound undercoat to the clean tabletop.

Obtain wetordry paper and using water start rubbing out the brush-strokes until you have a totally smooth surface, allow to dry and apply oil-bound exterior grade paint with a 3'; foam roller.

Heat the paint in boiling water before use

    LATER

Sometimes there is a dull finish on painted furniture, in which case use acrylic finish paint which is water based as the final coat.

Does anyone know what will get cooking oil (as in canola oil) stains out of pavement?

I鈥檝e noticed a few splatters on our patio blocks from the deep fryer we use outside. I鈥檝e tried TSP and nothing happened. It鈥檚 starting to look really gross. Any solutions?Does anyone know what will get cooking oil (as in canola oil) stains out of pavement?
Go to your local auto parts store and ask them for some ';dry sweep';. Its fairly cheap and a little goes a long way. Basically all you gotta do is sprinkle it on the stain, grind it in with your foot, think ';Come on Baby.... lets do the TWIST!';. Anyways grind it in, and sweep it up. The oil will get absorbed and all you gotta do is sweep it up. It works. We used to use it all the time in the Marines for cleaning up any and all oil spills from our vehicles, and it has always worked.

If you have any drywall or sheetrock readily available, crumble it up on the stains and do the same, grind it in and sweep it up.Does anyone know what will get cooking oil (as in canola oil) stains out of pavement?
I use TIDE powder clothes soap on automobile oil in the driveway. Try it, it can't hurt. Good luck
Any of the dishwashing liquid soaps (like Dawn or palmolive) that are marked grease fighting will take off some of the stain if you scrub them hard. I would also use Oil Dry or similar, which is what I think another answer says. These are granular items taht you pour over the stain, the grains absorb some of the oil and you sweep them away the next day.
it's really easy sounds stupid, but works, go buy some cheap kitty litter and our it on, leave for a couple days and sweep off, most will be gone, if not all gone, repeat the process. I did this to my side walk where a friends oil leaked oit of her car. Worked perfect.

How do I oil a Singer Touch Tronic 2001 sewing machine?

The manual doesn't give any relevant details, and I know my machine should be oiled regularly. Anyone know how to do this? I'd be most grateful for any help. How do I oil a Singer Touch Tronic 2001 sewing machine?
After looking at the manuals all of the gears appear to be nylon and in this case should not need to be oiled instead I would suggest a small amount of gear grease applied with a q-tip and I believe if you remove the top cover on the machine you can get to all of the gears right there.

I heard about haliver oil and it is supposed to help you lose weight. Does anyone know what this is and where you can get it?What is haliver oil, where can you get it and does it really help you lose weight?
It is the same as or similar to cod liver oil. Perhaps it is halibut liver oil. It is fish oil with vitamin A and D in it. It has not been demonstrated to help with weight loss, despite such claims being made.

How do you oil paint a metallic object?

I am in an oil painting class and need help, I need a sort of simple formula for painting something that has a highly reflective surface. I understand that it is mainly composed of the reflections of other objects in the area but I am having problems and my instructor seems to know less than what I do.How do you oil paint a metallic object?
I studied with Don Eddy in the seventies. He is a master painter of reflections.

    Mimic him and you'll see.

Take a look at these amazing works:

    http://images.google.com/images?client=s鈥?/a>

Learning to paint reflective surfaces is not a matter of learning to paint. It is a matter of learning to see.

    Polished surfaces always ';see'; something. In a reflection you see whatever it ';sees.';

Study reflections to learn to see.

Better yet study photos from magazines of reflective surfaces.

    Even better, mimic Don Eddy.

Opening some of the paintings on his web site gives great lessons on formulas for painting reflections. For example:

    http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h鈥?/a>

Good luck. Painting reflective surfaces, or transparent objects can be tricky, but correctly done, the visual results are spectacular.

  • What type of oil does a 1993 Plymouth Grand Voyager use?

I recently bought a 1993 Plymouth Grand Voyager but I can't find anywhere that says what kind of oil it takes. I don't have an owner's manual and it doesn't say on the engine. What type of oil does a 1993 Plymouth Grand Voyager use?
Most modern engines are designed to take 5W30 oil. The only reason to go with 10W30 is if you live in Arizona, Southern Florida or anywhere else where it stays hot year-round.

As far as brands, it doesn't matter, go with whatever brand you like. Many people have their own preference on brand, but they all meet certain specifications. Any oil you buy today is going to exceed the standards that were in place in '93, so no worries there.

If you change the oil regularly, no need to spend the extra money for high mileage engine oil, it's just a gimmick to remove more money from your wallet. It will not fix any damage from past negligence, and will not prevent wear any more than any other oil on the market. What type of oil does a 1993 Plymouth Grand Voyager use?
10w-30 most likely and since its an older vehicle try Syntec High Mileage or any other High Mileage motor oil....prevents engine wear.
5w-20 oil that meets Chrysler Material Standard MS-6395 on the oil container.
the eingine was designed for 10w30 or 5w30, depending on your climate. 5w30 if colder. everyone else will now give their opinion, but i personally reccommend valvoline.

What do they put in diesel motor oil that makes it different from regular motor oil?

They always say its more heavy duty. What do they put in diesel motor oil that makes it different from regular motor oil?
First off, diesels don't and are not designed to burn (to use) crankcase oil. As far as oil control goes, they're no different from a gasoline engine in that respect. In fact, I have a Perkins that has 3 compression rings and 2 oil rings. They sure wouldn't use 2 oil rings if they wanted it to use oil. Many Caterpillar engines had 2 rings (to reduce parasitic friction losses), a compression and a compression/oil ring and those engines would use oil from the get go.

A lot of diesel oils, especially those for older engines, have higher levels of zinc than do the latest generation of gasoline oils. Actually they don't have more zinc, it's just that the newest class of oils have less than before. Zinc makes things slippery and since most modern engines have roller tappets, it's no problem. Older cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors (both gas and diesel) with conventional flat tappets need the zinc to prevent cam lobe wear, especially those high reving engines with very stiff valve springs (motorcycles). What do they put in diesel motor oil that makes it different from regular motor oil?
As stated above there is a form of zinc that is used along with other additives in compression ignition engines. (diesels)

Diesels run under higher pressures than gasoline engines. One additive that helps make it ';heavy duty'; and resist the pressure, zinc dialkyldithiophosphate, can clog catalytic converters in cars, but diesels don't have a converter to clog. So they can use it in higher levels.

There are other antiwear, detergent, antifoaming and corrosion inhibitors that differ in each formula.
diesels burn oil, there designed to...so they make an oil that is designed to burn.....

now im not talking a gallon a month, only a very small amount but nevertheless they burn oil.

On a new maple hardwood floor, should I use a oil or water based polyurethane?

I have been getting the run around on which is better. On a new maple hardwood floor, should I use a oil or water based polyurethane?
It depends on what you want. Oil-based poly is the toughest finish out there. Most resistant to damage. Water-based poly is not as tough as oil-based but it's still up there in terms of strength and resistance to damage. There are 3 things to consider when deciding which one to use. I already described the first one. The second one is drying time. Oil-based takes quite a bit longer to dry. This can result in dust accumulating on the floor as it's drying. Also, you'll obviously have to wait longer before you can walk on it. The most important reason though in deciding which one to use is color. Water-based poly is the ONLY finish on the market that will dry completely clear. There is NO OTHER finish on the market; not varnish, not shellac, not oil-based poly that will dry clear. ALL finishes other than water-based poly will have some varying degree of an amber tone to them. If your wood is not stained for example and you want it to have the exact color it has in it's raw state, use water-based. All other finishes will give the wood an amber (yellowish orange-colored) tone to the wood. I've been making furniture for years. I deal with finishes all the time. By the way... I should have said there are 4 things to consider. Water-based poly doesn't stink too much. Oil-based poly has very strong fumes, so you'll need very good ventilation if you use that one.On a new maple hardwood floor, should I use a oil or water based polyurethane?
I would suggest you use a two pot epoxy for a really hard wearing surface.
Check out Trek Plus, which has aluminum oxide. You want an experienced pro to apply it.

    http://www.lastnlast.com/CDtrekplus.html
First of all please understand that there are wide ranges of quality in both finishes. You get what you pay for and if you value your floor I suggest going with the best finish you can get. There are some water base finishes that use a catalyst and dry to a very hard and tough finish. They run about $120 a gallon. I wouldn't use anything less, they just don't hold up. Oil based finishes take longer to dry and have a very strong odor that can make you dizzy, however they can be a little cheaper. Sherwin Williams makes a moisture curing polyurethane for about $85 a gallon that many finishers swear by. I would stay away from the consumer products that are available at Home Depot.

    Good luck!!!

Is it true I can make rosemary oil from olive oil and ground rosemary?

I have to mix it and leave it in a warm place for 2 days, is what I read. What constitutes a warm place? Also, what section can peppermint oi be found in - spices or baking? I need both oils, but can't remember seeing them anywhere in the grocery. Is it true I can make rosemary oil from olive oil and ground rosemary?
You will have rosemary flavored olive oil, not rosemary oil. Rosemary oil is what is called an Essential Oil.

Do not look for them in the grocery.

If you are cooking, rosemary in the olive oil is what you want to do. Rosemary essential oil can be toxic. If you are wanting it for aromatic purposes look where they have potpourri stuff.

Look for peppermint extract where you get vanilla extract. Peppermint oil same place as above. Is it true I can make rosemary oil from olive oil and ground rosemary?
After mixing, put it in a window sill. That will give it direct light contact and begin the natural process of breaking down the rosemary into your oil.

I would check a few different spots at your grocery. 1st look in the section that has the olive oil. If not there, check the ethnic aisle (the one with the soy sauce). Then go for the spice/baking aisle. If all that fails, check with the manager.
You don't need to grind the rosemary. Just add it to the bottle or container. Let sit for a few days. The flavor/scent of the rosemary will infuse with the olive oil. Works best in a warm place, but I wouldn't sit it in direct sunlight. The olive oil will go rancid pretty quickly.

What is the appropriate way to dispose of used cooking oil?

I know some people reuse it, but I am talking about when it is time to throw it out. What is the appropriate way to dispose of used cooking oil?
I know a few ways you can do that. 1) you can dig a hole in your backyard and put the oil in the hole and cover it with dirt. 2) you can use that oil and poor some over your dogs food, did you know oil is good for dogs because it makes their fur shiney. 3)you can also put the oil in a bag and throw it in your trash can but make sure you put it in a bag that doesn't link, if oil links in your trash it will cause magets to come in your trash can. And what ever you do do not poor the oil the oil down your drain. What is the appropriate way to dispose of used cooking oil?
Do not just throw it down the sink, even if it's vegetable oil that is liquid at room temperature. Sewage treatment plants can't neutralize it %26amp; it just gets flushed into the ocean.

Place it inside a container, metal being better than plastic, a biodegradible container being best of all). Try to fill the container as much as possible. Then throw it out with the rest of the trash. It is not a great solution but I don't think there is a better alternative.
I know that some countries recycle used cooking oil. Here in the Us several parts to recycle the used oil. Trash bin or drain would be the worst ideas. If you don't have any recycling going on yet You can either dispose it at a the closest curbside or ask a local restaurant if you can use their grease bin most large restaurants do dispose their used oil bin which are later recycled.

Try to recycle yourself for deep frying for instant oil can be reused.
Never never pour it into your sink or you can get sewage backup which fccin nasty (my friend's neighbor got it). so what you do is keep an old jar and/or can to pour the oil in. Once it get old it will harden, then you can throw it away. Or just put it in the fridge to let it harden. Simple as that! (:
dont put it down the drain, it will clog your drain up. Instead, you can put it in the trash, or just dump it outside in your yard.
Poor the oil into a can, like an old coffee can, let it sit. It will become almost solid, and then you can dispose of it. It's the best way I've found. Just do not put it in your sink.
I usually pour it into a very thick newspaper. The other thing to do is find a vacant place or somewhere close that is covered in ground vines.
Pour it into a disposable container and freeze it. On trash night put it out with the rest of the garbage. No spills
use a funnel and fill up a 2 liter bottle or anything and throw it out.
mix with sand throw in to the earth.
light it on fire and throw it over the castle walls, duh.
think only one option and try it
drink it and see how long it takes for you to die of heart attack.

What is the most effective way to dilute tea tree oil for spot treatment on pimples?

Although it is oil, it isn't exactly greasy and I mix it with water effectively. My bottle says to dilute it 10:1 with water. It's potent stuff and can irritate your skin if you use it undiluted. What is the most effective way to dilute tea tree oil for spot treatment on pimples?
    pure always works best.
Pure tea tree oil is fine, it's a natural ingredient and works wonders for pimples. Allot of products for pimples have tea tree oil in them.
unless u RELY mix tea tree oil with water it will combine but if u wet the q-tip first the oil and water will just separate so its not rely diluting.

putting (only) pure tea tree oil on your face is fine it wont do anything unless u over use it on the same pimples then it will start to burn

the best way to dilute it is to mix it with emu oil cos emu oil is a natural moisturiser and its GREAT for pimples to, and helps the tea tree oil abrosb into the pimple
Hello! I've been using this method for years now, and having been the likeness of a teenage dartboard for years, I now boast a clean and clear complection. Never, EVER dilute it in paint thinner, that is just absurd; also, try not to use it in its pure form on your face. Tea tree oil is not an openly recieved oil into the ph barrier of your skin. This works best, go down to your neighbourhood's natural 'groovy' grocery store, and pick up a small bottle of Emu oil. That's right, Emu. This is one of the most receptive emollients to the human skin known to mankind. Now.. take your Emu and Tea tree oil, mix a dime sized amount of the Emu with a drop or two of the Tea tree oil, take a q tip after cleansing the skin and apply a conservative amount to the affected areas. This is a safe and all natural way to treat breakouts, it's tried and true. Goodluck

Ps. The emu oil acts as a supply of essential fatty acids (ie. Omega 3) and will help repair the skin around the breakout once it is cleared, think of it as a double threat on acne
    dip it i paint thinner

And if it's good for you, if I were to drink a whole lot of it, would it be really good for me?Why is olive oil good for you?
Fats that come from plants are heart healthy. Olive oil will raise your good cholesterol and help protect you from heart disease, whether it's virgin, light, or classic.

If a recipe calls for deep frying something in 340F oil, can I use a pan for a makeshift boiler?

Main concerns are wether or not it will ruin the pan and is it safe. Any tips from someone who has done the same would be awesome. If a recipe calls for deep frying something in 340F oil, can I use a pan for a makeshift boiler?
Yep, you can use a deep pan without any problems HOWEVER make sure you keep an eye on the oil as it heats, don't leave it to boil or it will burn.

I've been cooking for many years and last year I set a pot of oil on fire on my stove ~ I didn't have anything to put it out with so I had to carry it to the back door. I set the curtains on fire, burnt the carpet %26amp; narrowly escaped burning the house down. At the same time I managed to singe my hair %26amp; sustain 3rd degree burns to my right hand which was carrying the pot.

PLEASE be careful with oil on the stove ~ it can happen to anyone!!

EDIT: To test whether the oil is ready drop a very small amount of batter (I assume you will be deep frying something which is battered) in the oil. If it is ready the batter will float to the top straight away, then go crispy %26amp; golden fairly quickly. If the batter stays at the bottom of the pan with just a thin trail of bubbles upward the oil is not yet hot enough. If a recipe calls for deep frying something in 340F oil, can I use a pan for a makeshift boiler?
Pans are designed to take high heat from a stove. You will know when the oil reaches that temp (kind of low for frying, actually) when a THERMOMETER raeds 340潞F.

Get a candy thermometer that you cna clip on the side of your pot so the tip stays submerged.
first of all make sure the food is not frozen. you can use just about any pan you want, the bigger the food, the deeper the pan or pot. frozen food will splatter more because of the water that has frozen on it, so if you are planning on frying something that is frozen, use a deeper pot.
I almost always just use a pot and have never had a problem. I'm not sure what your making but use a deep pot and be careful of splattering. Good luck to you!

My Accord is loosing oil and it keeps filling up around all the spark plugs, and two of them fill up so much that the wires pop out while I am driving. What could be the problem? Why is there oil filling up around the spark plugs in a 92 Honda Accord?
all right check it out, your valve cover has 4 holes where your plug wires go from the distributor cap. from the valve cover you got tube seals. from tube seals you got spark plug tubes down to the spark plugs. your tube seals arent sealing either between your sealsa and cover or seals and plug tubes. Why is there oil filling up around the spark plugs in a 92 Honda Accord?
the gasket o- ring around the spark plug hole has been dry rotted and lost its sealing abilities causing oil to pass thru the seal and into the spark plug holes it's an easy fix, removing the old seals is the fun part. Lots of work to get them out.
what he said..the ring seals probably need replacing...

Why is olive oil good for you?

And if it's good for you, if I were to drink a whole lot of it, would it be really good for me?Why is olive oil good for you?
Fats that come from plants are heart healthy. Olive oil will raise your good cholesterol and help protect you from heart disease, whether it's virgin, light, or classic.

Like most things, it's in moderation. You cannot drink it..1 tablespoon has 14 grams of fat. You'll gain weight..just replace the oil you usually use with olive. Why is olive oil good for you?
Extra virgin olive oil is the best oil (how does an oil lose its virginity the title of a book once asked) this is because it is first cold pressed and retains all of the vital nutrients. These nutrients have the ability to lower cholesterol. I'm not sure if i'd actually DRINK olive oil...why don't you use it in your homemade salad, drizzle it on your rice and beans or fry it in. I do all of these things and it's got a really good flavor, you'll enjoy it.

    Here are the reasons.

No! You can't drink it like that. Then it would be bad for you!:(
Good for you? Maybe it has essential nutrients, but as far as I know, two tablespoons have nearly 130 calories. Depends what you consider 'good' to be.

If gas hits 10 dollars a gallon due to an oil embargo this year, would you still drive?

If Isreal attacks too many people and Iran declares a embargo, and maybe others too. Isn't it time we had nationwide light rail along some or all of the interstates. If gas hits 10 dollars a gallon due to an oil embargo this year, would you still drive?
You solution is unrealistic. A project like that would take decades to implement and billions of dollars. We do not get as much oil from Iran or the rest of the middle east as everyone seems to think. Most of our oil comes from Canada and South America. That's not to say that if the Iranian government stopped shipping oil the prices wouldn't go up, because they would. I still find it hard to believe that Iran would stop shipping oil, they like money a lot more than ideals.

We should be looking at alternative transportation sources now, regardless of the amount of oil left in the planet or the price of gas. This decision will affect our children and children's children. If gas hits 10 dollars a gallon due to an oil embargo this year, would you still drive?
It is time that we had a nationwide light rail. I would still have to drive b/c where I live there are no public buses, I work 30 miles from home, and am sole income. Jobs are scarce and it is either this job or no job.
I would have to drive to work still - 15 miles of windy back roads that are too dangerous for a bike, and no public transportation at all between work and my home.

If that happened, I would get a Vespa or something.
more than 3 quarters the cost of fuel is tax nothing to do with the oil companies. If it got that expensive I would give up work and stay home living off welfare
Have to drive. I live in Texas. Public transportation is poor here.

    NO, I'D WALK!

Any good quality synthetic muligrade oil (i.e. 20-50W Mobil 1) will be fine for both petrol and desiel Renaults. If you live in a very cold climate you may need a less viscous oil (i.e. 5-35W). Your local auto-parts store should be able to advise about this , take their advice about the grade of oil (the W rating numbers that indicate the thickness of the oil) but don't let them try to sell you an expensive oil as all synthetic oils are similar and there is very little to gain from buying a dearer brand of oil. in fact many cheaper oils are identical to the name brands and are simply re-labeledWhat type of oil does a renault laguna take, is it the same for all types?

I have no oil but want to make some boxed brownies, will they still taste good if I don't have any oil?Can you make the boxed brownie mix with out the oil and still have them taste good?
    Chocolate and Prune Brownies

    Makes 15

    Ingredients

2 oz (50 g) dark chocolate (75 per cent cocoa solids), broken into pieces

2 oz (50 g) pitted pruneaux d'Agen, chopped and soaked overnight in 2 fl oz (55 ml) Armagnac

    2 oz (50 g) skin-on almonds

    4 oz (110 g) butter

    2 large eggs, beaten

    8 oz (225 g) demerara sugar

    2 oz (50 g) plain flour

    1 level teaspoon baking powder

    录 level teaspoon salt

You will also need a non-stick baking tin measuring 10 x 6 inches (25.5 x 15 cm) and 1 inch (2.5 cm) deep, lightly greased and lined with silicone paper (baking parchment).

Begin this the night before you are going to make the brownies by soaking the chopped prunes in the Armagnac. The next day, begin by pre-heating the oven to gas mark 4, 350掳F (180掳C), then chop the almonds roughly, place them on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven for 8 minutes. Please use a timer here, or you'll be throwing burnt nuts away all day.

While the almonds are toasting, put the chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl fitted over a saucepan of barely simmering water, making sure the bowl doesn't touch the water. Allow the chocolate to melt 鈥?4-5 minutes 鈥?remove it from the heat, then beat till smooth. Next, stir in the other ingredients, including the prunes and Armagnac, until well blended. Now spread the mixture into the prepared tin and bake on the centre shelf for 30 minutes, or until slightly springy in the centre, then leave it to cool for 10 minutes before cutting into squares and transferring to a wire rack.

NO. And they won't even bake right. Oil is a key ingredient.
the applesauce works but so will mayonaisse or Miracle whip
You want to substitute something in place of the oil...try applesauce...I've heard it works good. Good Luck!
You can use butter or margarine or substitute applesauce for the oil. It tastes as good and way better for you.
Sure just replace the oil with an equal amount of Fruit Puree or Applesauce to keep it moist. Good Luck!
    applesauce can take its place
If you have applesauce or canned pumpkin...you can replace the oil with one of these ingredients. Use the same measurements.

They still come out delicious and less fat.
Use the same amount of melted butter or margarine
vinegar will replace egg and also oil ! good luck

What brand of oil paints do you prefer?

I'm always curious to hear about other people experiences with different oil painting brands and mediums. What do you like, and what do you not like. Can't wait to hear some talk back! What brand of oil paints do you prefer?
I'm really interested in people's answers too! I've just started oil painting after years of doing watercolor.. so far I've only used Utrecht, and although it's a student brand, I think it's pretty good, (although I have nothing to compare it to!) It does seem like an excellent value when compared to some of the other paint. What brand of oil paints do you prefer?
old holland oil paint is the densest ,full pigment paint but expensive.blockx is also another good lightfast brand
    i like winsor newton
I like to use Windsor and Newton Artisan oil paints. These are water soluble oil paints. They have all the properties of tradition oils paint but don't smell of turps and are easy to clean up. The colour range is more limited than with other oil paints and they can be mixed with tradition oil paints providing you use the traditional solvents.

Apart from that, I like to use Art Spectrum oil paints as they are Australian and the colours are made for painting the Australian landscape. I use the new non toxic mediums when using these colours. I simply don't want to use turps anymore.

If your motor has no obvious oil leaks high mileage oil is a high priced total rip-off. All it does is seal very minor gasket leaks. Chevrolet calls for 5W-30 motor oil for your car. Havoline, Valvoline, Kendall, Mobil 5000 and 7000 are good high detergent brands. It's somewhat difficult to find but Brad Penn is the only remaining Pennsylvania oil now sold in the USA. What is the oil capacity of a 1985 Yamaha CA50 gearbox?

I have inherited a 1985 Yamaha CA50 scooter. Of course, no owners manual came with it. I want to change the oil in the gearbox but do not know the capacity and type of oil to use. Here's to hoping someone knows... Thanks. What is the oil capacity of a 1985 Yamaha CA50 gearbox?
    It's a very small amount.

    0.13Litre

    0.14 US Quart

    Thats about 5 US ounces.

Yamaha says use 10w30 grade SE motor oil

    or grade GL gear oil.

Automatic Transmission Fluid is vastly superior in every respect to either of those.

Yamaha seems to contradict itself as far as Change Interval(nothing unusual for them)

They range from 12,000 mi /24 months

to as little as 3,000 mi /6 months

    ????????

One a year or every 12,000 miles will do just fine.

Because it has such a Small Capacity,,,,it's VERY,VERY important to watch for any Leaks.

By the time you notice them,,,';1/2 the oil is gone';.

What makes an oil pressure light come on when the car idles?

Whenever I push the break in and sit for a minute like in a drive thru my oil light comes on. Also, if my car is in park and I'm idling it comes on. What makes this happen? What makes an oil pressure light come on when the car idles?
probably low oil pressureWhat makes an oil pressure light come on when the car idles?
Well...low oil pressure obviously. This is very common on 4 cylinder cars with 100k+ miles. The bearing clearances are no longer the same, the valve guides are starting to wear, etc. As a result the oil pump can no longer provide the pressure required to lubricate all components of the engine at idle speed. The light goes off when you speed up because the oil pump speeds up and creates more pressure.

Think of the oil pump as the human heart, the slower it goes the less it pumps...the typical ';fix'; for your problem is to step up the oil weight category. A thicker oil will reinstate acceptable pressure at low idle. This is not a permenant fix by any means, as times goes on the bearings will wear further as will all other moving parts in the block leaving more and more space for oil to fill.

For the time being bump up the oil weight, the light should go off....if not there's not much that can be done outside of doing a rebuild. As always keep an eye on your oil consistency and levels between changes. If you notice a good deal of oil being burned or it starts to look ';burned'; on the dipstick you'll need to consider a rebuild, a used engine, or a new car!

    Hope this helps!
Check pressure with a mechanical pressure gauge to confirm, the remove oil pan to see if strainer of pick up tube clogged up.
That is usually caused by low oil pressure the slower the engine rpms are the lower the pressure is. not knowing your car it is hard to say what is causing the low pressure. it could be that it just has alot of miles on it or the idle is just to low or that the oil pressure sensor is bad or it is leaking. but before your have any more problems have a mechanic look at it, that may save you some money in the long run good luck
Faulty oil sending unit and/or involved electronic circuitry.
Change the oil pressure switch.I pressume you have good oil in it?.And the filter is okay. You could rig up a temporary oil pressure to find out the pressure. Then compare your figures %26gt;If they are too low then you need to replace the oil pump.
the oil you are running may be just a little too thin and your oil pump is having a hard time picking it up. Try a heavier oil on next change

  • Why is my oil pressure warning light flashing after a long trip?

I have a mitsubishi 3000gt '92 and I just change the oil(I put in 5w30). The car doesn't have any leaks and the engine doesn't feel like lost its power. Why is my oil pressure warning light flashing after a long trip?
The viscosity of the oil you've used is too light. After a run, the oils thins with the heat and is harder of your oil pump to pickup and pump. With a 15 year old car this happens, and if this continues it will stuff the motor. To fix, replace the oil with a heavier grade such as 10w40 or 15w50.Why is my oil pressure warning light flashing after a long trip?
Your oil sensor is probably the prob. The wire connect to the sensor, the wire its self, My guess is after many miles heat is doing a no. on your wireing. Old wireing builds up resistance, so have a complete checkup, bumper to bumper, 92 its time!! Or you could do what I do, I d put in a S. W. guage. I hate idiot lights!!
the oil pressure switch would be the first thing to replace or called the oil sending unit....
your oil may be to thin for your area or for its age. older engines need a little thicker oil. BUT, the best thing is to have your mechanic check it out for you.
';Long Trip'; How many miles on the engine? might need to go to a little heavier oil ';Havoline 15W-40 or Coastal Hi-Mileage';. Oil pump could be getting weak after long trips. Personally I'd go with the heavier oil.
your oil pump may be going bad, is the oil low? if so than you are burning oil.
it can due to a bad quality engine oil because by getting hot it los the tickness,if you have not change your oil filter resently do it this time when you change oil.or a lazy oil pump.check that yor ingine temp. does not get to high, that could in some cars problem with oil pressure.good luck

Do not use EVOO, aside from costing you a small fortune, it will negatively affect the flavor of many items. Canola has a higher smoke point than veggie oil for about the same cost and is nutritionally better than veggie oil.
vegetable oil is best evoo is bad for another reason besides cost the smoke point is low.which depending on your fry temp can result in fire

Is taking castor oil safe to start contractions? Does it work? What else helps start your contractions?

I need to know if castor oil is safe to take to start your contractions or if it even works. And what else can I do that will bring on some contractions? Is taking castor oil safe to start contractions? Does it work? What else helps start your contractions?
You should be at least 40 weeks before trying to bring on labor yourself at home. If you haven't started dilating on your own yet, then there's a good chance nothing will work anyway. As well... if your baby hasn't dropped yet, trying to start labor is very dangerous as you could end up with cord prolapse and other negative health issues.

If you are at least 40 weeks and have started dilating on your own etc., then here is a website with all the natural induction methods to try safely at home.

    http://www.lifepassages.net/NaturalInduc鈥?/a>

Castor oil works for some women, and not for others. You should already be in the early stages of labor though for it to be most effective. Make sure you are near a bathroom and don't take it right before bed!! It will cause intestinal cramps along with diarrhea, so don't mistake those for contractions.

Good Luck!Is taking castor oil safe to start contractions? Does it work? What else helps start your contractions?
that stuff is nasty!!! I threw my guts up when I tried to take it :(

take a walk :) I would much rather be over due than taste that junk again!!!!!!! Good Luck!
I do think it's safe, but I don't think it's so effective. Even if it were, consider this about castor oil: It will make you empty out your intestines, sometimes in a gut-wrenching way. You are not allowed to eat once you are admitted, except maybe hard candy, jello, broth, juice, etc. Labor spends the energy equivalent of a 50 mile hike. Do you want to do that on an empty stomach? (Unfortunately, some moms also vomit during labor. Personally, I would rather have something in my gut.)

Nipple stimulation can also work by releasing oxytocin. It can also cause labor to come on very quickly and very painfully. This would not be my choice.

Some people swear that spicy food brings on labor. I had Mexican food the night before I went into labor, but I don't really believe that it caused the labor, I was already past my due date. But who knows?

I think the safest thing you can do is get out and walk, as much as your body will allow. Talk to your doctor about induction if you are really uncomfortable.

    Best of luck, congratulations!!
If your contractions haven't started yet or you're not showing other signs of labor then the things you try will not be effective.

Also, castor oil will probably only cause you to have diarrhea, cramps, and dehydration. Not a good idea.
walk on the beach. that's how my contractions started because of the sand.

What happens when oil is pumped out of the mideast. Does seawater fill in or will the mideast sink?

My thought is that oil pumped out of the ground will get displaced by seawater or is there a big void and the mideast countries could sink. The other possibility is that oil is heavier and the water replacing that void could cause earthquakes in the region. What happens when oil is pumped out of the mideast. Does seawater fill in or will the mideast sink?
Oil wells are typically much deeper than groundwater, so I would not expect most wells to fill with groundwater (and the original oil would float if they were in contact).

If the oil field was in direct contact with ocean water, the oil would have flowed out and been replaced with water already.

What is likely to happen is that the ground will sink as the liquid is removed, just like most ground ';subsides'; when water is pumped out of it.What happens when oil is pumped out of the mideast. Does seawater fill in or will the mideast sink?
No. That damned slicky sticky thing gets replenished!!!
Oil Wells that have been producing for a long time water is injected to fill the void.Oil being less dense will float on the water and able to be pumped for longer periods.
Forget about oil, there are so many mines in this earth and they go miles deep into this soil and nothing has happened. Think of road linking England and France under the sea.
Neither. The rock is cemented so the oil comes out of thr pore space in the rock. It is similar to a barrel filles with gravel and water and the water id poured out

How much do oil pastel artists generally charge for their art?

I'm an art student who's been asked by several people to draw their family members in oil pastel. I know the cost of my supplies, but how much do I charge for my work? How much do oil pastel artists generally charge for their art?
Since you're a student, consider a small fee above the cost of your supplies to cover your gas and time. Say, if the pastels and clean up equipment, canvas, and other supplies will cost you $45, tell them you'll do the painting for $75, or even $100, which is still far less than if they had a professional do it. If they like it, ask if they would be willing to be a good reference for you, which will amount to a lot more than a few dollars! How much do oil pastel artists generally charge for their art?
Ditto what the previous poster said.

Add in all of the supplies needed (which includes the gas or taxi cab or however you get to them), and then just factor in the amount of time you'll be spending on it.

How much do YOU think your piece is going to be worth?

I wouldn't jack the price up too much since you are a student still, but I wouldn't go too cheap either.

Spray it with ';auto brake parts cleaner'; then use a product call '; Mean Green '', it works better than detergent, they sell it at Walmart. How to get out set-in motor oil stain off of a brick driveway?
If it is a fresh dripped oil you can put dirt on it to soak it up. I'd then put palmolive or dish soap on it and let it work it's way in. Then hose off on late afternoon with hose water or hot house water. Again apply some dirt to pull up moisture and oil.
    Try power washing the driveway.=)
I've never tried this but spray W-D40 on it wait throw some newspaper over and blot.
Muriatic acid is a good brick cleaner, but it's intended for things like mold, not oil.

I would keep plugging away with the degreaser and add laundry detergent to the mix. Also, use a bucket of hot water, not cold water from a hose. In fact, if you can run a hose with hot water to the spot, you'll find things go much more quickly. Cold water is going to make it coagulate.

Just in case your mind goes that direction, a pressure washer will destroy the brick, so forget it.
    laundry detergent, dish soap.
I don't really know but baking soda sounds like it may work!!

Do oil companies get their oil from OPEC or do they get it from drilling for it themselves?

If the oil companies get their oil from their own drilling, why do we depend on OPEC (specifically Saudi Arabia) to get our oil? Why don't we just buy our oil from the oil companies only?Do oil companies get their oil from OPEC or do they get it from drilling for it themselves?
The US Consumes about 19 Million Barrels of oil per day. Of this just over 5 Million comes from oil wells within the US. The rest is imported. The oil companies must sell the oil at world prices because about 70% of the oil they sell is bought at world prices. World oil prices have been going up, up and up some more. The US gets its oil from Canada, Mexico, and venisuala and the rest from the middle east.Do oil companies get their oil from OPEC or do they get it from drilling for it themselves?
Canada is the U.S. largest supplier of crude oil.

The U.S.A. exports over a million barrels per day.

Of 278,566 barrels/day imported, 169,659 barrels come from OPEC.

You can find this and other fascinating data from your government website at

    http://www.eia.doe.gov/
If I understand correctly, OPEC is merely an organization of the major companies, it is not a producer in and of itself.
We have to buy it from OPEC because we sell our own crude to China....how's that grab ya.

What percentage of petrol do I put in my heating oil to stop it going thick in cold weather?

    Hi

I live in the mountains in Spain where they do not put an additive in heating oil to stop it going thick and unusable in cold weather. I have been told that an addition of petrol can stop the effects of the cold weather. What percentage of petrol do i use to cover temperatures down to -5C?

Also the same question for diesel in my car? What percentage of petrol do I put in my heating oil to stop it going thick in cold weather?
There are special heating oil additives for this and you should buy them rather than adding petrol into the oil. There's a reason why they don't put cold weather additives - they are usually not needed in the warmer climes of Spain, unless you live up in the Sierras. But if you really need it, you could try aronol oil additive.

You should not need diesel additives for cold weather for your car. They are already added by the oil companies.

You could also add paraffin K-1 to the home heating fuel tank. This will lower the ';freeze'; point, as the freeze point for K-1 is about -20F. K-1 will burn successfully in just about any home heating fuel oil furnace, but the downside is the expense (K-1 has a 20% to 30% higher cost than oil) and fewer BTU's than the same amount of home heating fuel oilWhat percentage of petrol do I put in my heating oil to stop it going thick in cold weather?
what is the oil for the car engine for heating in your home need more details . you can place petrol in your diesle and it will still run as lon as it isnt totally petrol needs to be at least 70% desel i have put petrol in a diesel countless times and just filled up with desiel and its bene ok in fact wen a diesel fails on its emisions test for the uk mot a lot of garages place petrol in as its a lot cleaner
Never add petrol to heating oil (gas-oil or diesel) the additive added to heating oil in cold climates is petroleum or paraffin and is supplied ready mixed from your heating oil supplier, on asking.
your heating oil is #2 diesel just add 1/3 #1 diesel....never ever add petrol to diesel. irreversible damage WILL occur. also your car runs on #2 also so do the same for it.
Petrol is not the answer. Most Oils today have an anti thickening agent in them. To make sure phone the Oil Company
    It is not Petrol.

Never put Petrol in a diesel car even in small proportions
    get a block heater

What are the bad effects of un-disposed used motor oil and what is the proper way to dispose it?

I have and assignment on this, but i cant seem to find the info im looking for. What are the bad effects of un-disposed used motor oil and what is the proper way to dispose it?
Used oil only goes one of three places:

    a) clutters up your garage (that's me, lol!)

    b) gets dumped in the environment somewhere, poisoning the soil and causing heavy-metal contamination

    c) gets recycled, and turned into usable oil again.

Generally there's nothing wrong with used oil. It's still oil. It's just contaminated with soot, heavy metals (from bearing surfaces) and its additives have broken down, so in a small engine like an automobile, it needs to be changed. Locomotives never change their oil, they just sample it and run a spectroscopy to look for evidence of any engine problems. What are the bad effects of un-disposed used motor oil and what is the proper way to dispose it?
look for waste oil on your search

it can cause cancer if touched for a prolonged time

it can get in the underground water supply if dumped illegally

as a toxin, it can affect the function of several internal organs if ingested

take it to a recognized reclamation center where it will be either recycled or burned as a source of fuel in heaters.
Anyone caught dumping used motor oil in the environment will be shot on sight.

Or you could just get a fine. If you don't get caught, you should feel Very Very guilty.

Take it to anyplace that changes oil. They'll take it off your hands for free. Unless they're an Ahol. Then leave it on their doorstep when they're closed.
Turn it into the oil Co. They will put it back in the oil stream and process it again.

What's the best way of getting rid of cooking oil without harming the environment?

I'm trying to go green here and not harm the environment. I've even started using eco-friendly washing detergent, dish wash and hand soap. I even use electricity as sparingly as possible. What's the best way of getting rid of cooking oil without harming the environment?
Strain it trough a coffee filter and reuse it a few times, unless you burn it. I garden and have a compost pile, so i put it in there along with vegetable scraps. Even if you just pour it in the yard, it's not going to hurt the soil. The reason they tell you not to pour it down the drain is because it coagulates in there and clogs the pipes. Or, if you cook a LOT, you can save it up and take it to a bio-diesel refiner, and let someone burn it in their car. What's the best way of getting rid of cooking oil without harming the environment?
Most laundry detergent is eco-friendly and dish soap too for cooking oil I use olive oil or canola oil, both of which are eco-friendly..If you live in a rural area you can dispose of you used oil by putting it in an area away from your house out in a field somewhere and the racoons and other animals will eat it ....or else put in a coffee can , store in refrigerator until the can is full, then put it in the trash .. or contact a local restaurant and ask them if they will take it, as most restaurants use a fat recycling company to recycle their oil.
if it has fats in it , just pour it into a bowl , into the fridge and let it firm up. then get a spoon and scrape the fat into the bin. DO NOT throw any fats down the sink .
I mix mine with kitty litter and then throw it out. It won't stop up your plumbing and the kitty litter helps break down the oil more quickly.
    next time don't buy oil.

sorry, that's the truth. you want to lessen your carbon footprint, stop buying processed foods.
cooking oil- corn, canola etc., are nothing like motor oil and break down much more readily and quickly.

  • Where is the oil filter on a 1999 dodge stratus?

Am going to change the oil on my girlfriend's car. I couldn't see it looking down around the engine compartment. Was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

    Thanks!!

    7th

PS: I've changed the oil in all of my cars for some time. Please don't reference taking it to a garage (like someone on my last question did), as it's not worth the money. I'm just hoping someone will be able to point me in the right direction to save a little search time.Where is the oil filter on a 1999 dodge stratus?
sometimes they are located under the intake or exhaust manifold and is not easily seen from the top you will have to jack the car up but recommend putting it on ramp and get a flashlight and look underneath the car then u will find it and on some cars oil filter can only be removed from under the carsWhere is the oil filter on a 1999 dodge stratus?
You've been lucky on your cars so far because you didn't need car ramps to get to the oil filter. But it may be time to consider purchasing a set of Rhino Ramps. They're super strong and yet light weight and they get the front or rear of the car way up off the ground so you can work under it easily. One proviso though. In my opinion the only safe way to work under a car is to also have a pair of safety jack stands under the frame so that no matter what, you've got something holding up the car. You also need some wheel chocks for at least one wheel. You have to take your time and get used to driving the car up on to the Rhino Ramps, but once you get the knack of it, you can do it easily and safely. Buy them at your local auto store. You can also make your own 2x8 wooden riser ramps by simply bolting two 2 foot long 2x8s together a little offset so that the tires can ramp up one end of them. That gives you a 3 inch lift which may be enough sometimes. Of course you still need the safety jack stands under the frame and the wheel chocks.
only can get to from bottom more to passenger side
